Elisabeth Herniou

Elisabeth Herniou is a CNRS Director of Research based at the Insect Biology Research Institute (IRBI) at the University of Tours, where she is the leader of the IMIP team working on the functional and evolutionary interactions of microbes, insects and plants. Trained in evolutionary biology and molecular systematics, she is interested all aspects of virus evolution. she particularly focusses on the genomic adaptation of insect DNA viruses, such as baculoviruses, and on the domestication of nudiviruses, which led to the evolution of bracoviruses. Lately she also began working on virus discovery and viral ecology in insect hosts.
